Welcome to my website! I'm Larena Patrick, the owner of Glorious Goodies. I discovered that I had an intolerance to gluten and dairy back in 2001 and immediately had to start eating completely free of gluten and dairy. There weren't very many tasty options for baked goods, especially desserts, which I love, so over the years I missed out on a lot of great foods. That is, until I started cooking for myself the things that I missed.
I had grown up working in our family restaurant and in the presence of an amazingly creative baker who is my mom so I knew my way around a kitchen. Over the years as I began to discover several wonderful gluten-free flour options, I had such a blast (mostly) testing and creating recipes for desserts that I had lived too long without eating. And soon I was baking the gluten-free, dairy-free versions.
As I continued to build my recipe files, I discovered that I had unleashed my passion for preparing and presenting food. Allowing myself to realize one of my life dreams (being an entrepreneur), in 2009 I started my company, Glorious Goodies.
For the past few years It has always been my goal to prove that foods that are gluten-free and vegan, that are low in sugar can also be delicious. It is the highest compliment to have people say they would never guess that my baked goods are any different from any other desserts!
That goal accomplished, I wanted to build upon my idea and incorporate another passion. Tea.
I was introduced to tea early in my childhood and have always had endless tea choices in my own cupboards. As I have had an appreciation for the role tea plays in cultures across the globe, I wanted to include it as a part of what I offer.
Once I added the tea, I realized I was heading in a direction even closer to what I enjoyed. Party planning! It was a natural progression springing from my combined experiences of years spent working in restaurants, catering, and doing craft service on film sets, to make my own business into a catering company.
